What is an urban legend? According to Webster,
an urban legend is "an often lurid story or anecdote that is based on hearsay and widely circulated as true," and is sometimes called an urban myth. As our popularity has grown, we've reorganized the site into some new categories so the legends are easier to find. There's a lot more material now so if you are curious about that last chain email you got, check with us, we'll tell you it's crap.
